P2076: A tuning-valve performance result can concern SENT data range
Understand the raw digital-data evidence behind GM P2076 and the missing alternative threshold in its published monitor row.

Documented application
2025 GM 07A-1 documented monitor only. Vehicle, engine and controller calibration applicability must be established separately; no model fitment is inferred from the file.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P2076 is an intake manifold tuning-valve position range/performance code. In the cited GM implementation, the controller evaluates raw data received through the valve module's SENT interface. It is not directly comparing a hand-measured valve angle with a universal mechanical tolerance.
Raw data and physical position are different quantities
One documented failure branch is a received raw data value above 4,000. The row then introduces an alternative branch but leaves its threshold blank. Original-page inspection confirms the missing value, so this article does not invent a lower limit or claim that the visible branch describes the entire diagnostic.
The published battery window is above 9 V and below 17.5 V, with a one-second evaluation and two-trip reporting. A value obtained outside the applicable enable conditions does not necessarily reproduce the monitor's assessment.
Preserve the digital status before translating it into hardware
Record the raw value, interface context and exact fault result. The number 4,000 is a digital threshold; the source supplies no conversion to volts, degrees or displacement. Treating it as a mechanical position would add an unsupported assumption.
The page separately lists communication and data-error diagnoses for this module, reinforcing the need to identify which result was actually reported. P2076 alone cannot distinguish a sensor-module issue from an interpretation or connection problem, and the incomplete alternative criterion prevents a complete reproduction procedure without the matching calibration information.
