P217E: Group H low supply points to the energized high-side circuit

Learn how GM P217E evaluates injector output 8 and why a ground-directed electrical result is separate from cylinder contribution.

Documented application

2025 GM 06B documented monitor only. Vehicle, engine and controller calibration applicability must be established separately; no model fitment is inferred from the file.

The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.

P217E identifies a low supply-circuit condition for injector group H. The cited GM monitor calls the relevant channel injector 8 high-side driver and assesses its voltage feedback while it is powered on. The result concerns the electrical path, not a direct measurement of how much that cylinder contributes to engine output.

Establish the on-state monitoring opportunity

A low signal while the driver is intentionally off is not the documented failure comparison. The controller uses calibrated voltage thresholds for the energized output to classify a connection toward ground. The table does not provide a universal external probe voltage or locate the physical short.

Battery voltage must be at least 11 V and the specified P062B failure states absent. Ten failed observations within twenty samples at a 100-millisecond task rate confirm the condition, with one-trip reporting.

Keep the correct output and controller state together

Preserve the command and feedback for the output named injector 8, together with supply and the wider injector-control fault status. A satisfactory neighboring channel cannot verify this path, and an inhibited assessment should not be counted as a successful pass.

Group H is the generic label; its physical cylinder and connector mapping must come from the actual system information. The monitor cannot decide whether the defect is in wiring, the connected load or the controller, or justify a fuel-pressure repair. Those conclusions require the matching diagnostic procedure.
