Documented application
Ford 2023–2024 diesel OBD summary, August 25, 2023 revision; only the described monitor examples. Confirm the engine and calibration before applying values.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P2427 identifies the high control-circuit classification for the EGR cooling-valve actuator in Ford’s diesel summary. It is part of the short-circuit monitor, alongside the separate low classification P2426. The open-load case P2425 is described in another entry.
The code reports a circuit category
Monitoring is continuous and the stated malfunction-registration duration is two seconds. These facts concern the electrical actuator check. They do not establish excessive exhaust temperature, coolant pressure or valve opening simply because the generic description contains the word “high.”
A high classification should retain its exact identity when compared with an open or low result. Those observations may require different circuit investigations, even if each prevents the intended valve operation.
Locate the reported path before choosing hardware
Preserve the full code, requested actuator state, relevant supply/control information and companion faults. A later successful movement does not recreate the electrical state present during a stored intermittent event.
The source provides no universal high-voltage threshold, pinout or direct-actuation test for P2427. It cannot determine whether the reported condition originates in wiring, the connected actuator or the controller output. Vehicle-specific verification must establish that path before a repair is selected. An EGR cooling complaint alone does not prove this electrical classification, and the code alone does not condemn the cooler’s heat-transfer hardware.
