P2716: solenoid D electrical diagnosis accumulates current-tracking error
The GM P2716 example evaluates accumulated disagreement between commanded and feedback current for the SLC3 solenoid.

Documented application
GM 2010 10OBDG04 transmission table, SLC3 timing-solenoid implementation. Only the cited monitor and calibration are described; per-code vehicle and engine applicability has not been established.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P2716 is an electrical current-tracking diagnosis for the solenoid identified as SLC3 in this transmission document. The controller compares commanded current with feedback current and accumulates the difference. It is not simply a threshold for transmission-fluid pressure or a measurement of clutch slip.
Persistent tracking error differs from a simple short
The source updates its error accumulator every ten milliseconds. The accumulator is cleared when the detection window closes, the error falls inside the documented small-error band or its sign changes. Those reset rules matter: an intermittent disagreement that reverses direction is not treated exactly like a sustained error in one direction.
Separate low- and high-circuit faults on the same page have their own continuity or overcurrent criteria. P2716's accumulation method should not be replaced with those neighboring tests merely because all concern the same solenoid.
Retain command, feedback and eligibility together
The printed evaluation requires adequate ignition voltage, an enabled diagnostic state and no emergency mode. Related low/high circuit faults must not be set. The useful trace therefore includes current command, current feedback and the controller's operating state.
The source's accumulator threshold is a running diagnostic quantity, not a permissible instantaneous coil current. Do not turn it into an external current specification. The table also does not prescribe a valve-body or transmission replacement. Use the exact transmission procedure to identify the cause, then verify current tracking during an eligible evaluation rather than relying only on a cleared code.
