P2769: Converter-clutch circuit low describes a ground-side electrical category
Understand Ford P2769 and why low slip or low pressure cannot by itself prove this electrical fault.

Documented application
Ford 2024–2025 gasoline OBD operation summary, July 16 2024 revision; only the cited monitor and transmission architectures. No individual vehicle fitment or universal calibration is inferred.
The code alone does not identify a failed part or establish that a vehicle is safe to drive. Confirm the vehicle, reporting module and applicable service procedure.
P2769 is the torque-converter clutch short-to-ground classification in Ford's cited architecture table. The detailed code P0740_11 preserves the electrical failure type. Low here does not mean low converter slip or a measured hydraulic-pressure deficit.
The driver check uses command and feedback
Ford describes an electrical comparison between commanded driver state and output-driver feedback, with a typical 1.5-second mismatch criterion. Mechanical lockup monitoring follows a different strategy based on slip and operating conditions. A speed observation alone therefore cannot reproduce P2769's electrical evidence.
The architecture table separates the open-circuit, ground-short and power-short categories, as well as the functionally stuck-off and stuck-on results. Retaining the full suffix helps prevent a simplified scanner description from mixing those branches.
What remains to be isolated
A useful record aligns the command, electrical status and any simultaneous supply or related faults. A later normal lockup event cannot locate an earlier grounding path. A continuing release problem also cannot identify the electrical fault's origin without the applicable circuit tests.
The summary does not specify a universal connector pin, coil resistance or component location. It establishes the reported failure category, not whether the defect is in a load, harness or output stage. The exact transmission procedure must isolate that evidence before a repair is selected.
